General health assignment, body condition scoring
Body condition scoring is a method that gives an indication of the pigs health status. It also helps us determine the amount of feed they require.
A scale from 0 (emaciated) to 5 (grossly fat) is used in the scoring system which combines both visual appraisal and feel. Observation alone is not enough, you will need to feel and handle the pig to get accurate assessment of its condition.
