Physical examination
Once the chicken is properly restrained it can examined for any signs of mites or illness. This may include checking the chickens temperature. To take its temperature you first must locate its vent, which is just below the tail as shown. Once the vent has been located you can insert the tip of the thermometer into the vent and take its temperature.
The normal body temperature of a chicken is between 41°c and 45°c.
